The "Overnighter"

So this last weekend Mike and I decided that we would go camping for a short trip during my May break. He researched some local spots and found a campsite in the North portions of Kettle Moraine. It was right on a lake, with lots of amenities...showers, playground for the kids, hookups if you have a camper, and electricity. Pretty cushy if you ask either one of us, but it was one of the only ones open so early in the year(there is a wise reason for that, it's still freakin freezing out here) We had a blast setting up our little campsite and headed down to the lake to do some fishing. You can see here how fruitful it was...
Actually, Mike did catch a large Northern Pike, it broke his 6lb line when he was bringing it out of the water and onto the dock and took our cute yellow and orange glitter lure. Oh well. We had delicious tin foil dinners that night, they are so wonderfully easy and so yummy. For desert a friend told me to try "dough boys". It was a great suggestion, Mike and I are now big fans!!To make them you use refrigerated biscuit dough, roast it like a mallow and then dip in butter and cinnamon sugar, they were amazing!!
Nola had a blast in the woodsy environment, you'd think she had died and gone to doggy heaven with the plethora of things to chew on. Here she is, our little Lumber Jack. It was like she wouldn't bother with anything that wasn't 3 times her size. After a freezing night's sleep, Mike made the executive decision to not stay a second night. So we ended our camping weekend early and went home to see "IRON MAN" in the comfort of a warm movie theater. This camping experience was a great appetizer for what we both hope will be a more filling camping summer. Doesn't our tent look like Darth Vader?
