Yay for field trips! Yesterday my classmates and I got to go on a field trip to Lord's Dental Laboratory. Who would have thought that at 25 yrs old and in graduate school that they'd still take us on field trips...I was so excited. Many of my classmates didn't share this excitement, knowing that it was a long bus ride to Greenbay
just to see some lab techs wax up crowns and dentures. I on the other hand relished the idea of a vacation from our everyday routine at school. We had a blast just talking and laughing on the trip there, long bus rides can make people pretty loopy.
The new dress code at school requires us to wear scrubs, but everyone got to dress up for this event. It was so fun to feel professional again and see everyone lookin' their best. Matt and I were feeling "pimp" in our matching purple shirts. The dental lab had lunch for us and then a series of 2 lectures and a tour. It was interesting to see these awesome lab techs whip out the work that takes me a whole afternoon in a matter of minutes. I can't believe some of the new digital designs that are being Incorporated into the dental field. You can take a scan of a tooth and design the crown on the computer and it will be made in a machine for you. Pretty darn amazing.
We were split into small groups for the different classes. As you can see from my sweet name tag, I had a YELLOW STAR which meant I was part of the coolest
group...aka the group that got to go to lunch first. It was a fun change of pace from our everyday education. Thanks Marquette and Lord's Dental Lab.
