Wow, almost a whole month and I haven't made an entry. What have we been up to you ask?!

This month has been a crazy one with all the weather ups and downs. The day the tornado's and floods started, Mike and I went boating with one of our good friends. You can see from these photos that a tornado watch was far from our minds. The weather that morning was gorgeous! And Mike and I were feeling the repercussions of not wearing any sunscreen for the next few days while we were on house arrest from the storms. It was a good thing too, because neither of us could bear putting clothes on for the next two days. Mike mustered up enough to put on a shirt for the home teachers Sunday morning, but it was off again before they reached the end of our driveway to leave. It was a long and uncomfortable weekend, I'm still peeling skin off almost 2 weeks later.

I'm so excited for next week. We have a week off of school for the 4th of July and we are headed to Utah to celebrate with Stephanie and James (my sister-in-law, it's so fun to say that and to have sisters-in-law), they are getting married on June 27th in the Timpanogus Temple. She is totally a blond babe and one of the funnest people to be around. Stephanie has always made me feel apart of the Spencer clan. James is a very luck guy to become apart of the family and have Steph as his wife. I'm so excited for future family get togethers with all the boys playing a late night b-ball game at the church. Mike is a pretty competitive player when it comes to the game, (he had quite the reputation when we were in the singles ward the married guys at school still give me a hard time about him), and James is 6'6" and on the BYU basketball team. So it would be a fun match up to watch!

So with all the saturation in the ground, Mike decided it was the perfect time to take down the sickly tree in our front yard. My macho husband managed to do it all by himself! It was a lot of work, cutting all the larger branches with the chainsaw, tieing them to a rope (so I could pull on it and make sure the branches didn't knock out our new picture window), loading up the trailer to head to the dump, digging a trench to undermine the root system, and chaining it up to the good old ISUZU and giving it a little tug until it toppled over. All the neighbors came out to watch as Mike Chained the tree up to the car, I'm pretty sure they were hoping for more of a show...one of the neighbors came out, and then quickly went in saying he couldn't bear to watch. But Mike had done the job well.

He chopped the major roots, so the car just had to dislodge all the little ones. Our house looks so naked now! And we are both noticing how much shade we really had before, even though the tree was pretty sick. You can see how badly we are in need of a new paint job too. That will be the next project in 2 weeks. So if you all are feeling like a having great time, or just want to "brush" up on some outdoor painting skills, I'd love to make you lunch, and dinner, maybe even dessert if you are that good!
